The JOB!

Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) is an internationally-proven program that intervenes with children in residential care whose behaviour makes it difficult to sustain placements. This program has demonstrated success in transforming children's behaviour, making it possible for children to settle into a stable family environment.

As the education subject matter expert in this team your role is delivered in schools to help support educational outcomes. Our students may have significant gaps in education and find it difficult to learn in a group setting, while presenting with behavioural and emotional problems that impact on their education.

Duties:

  • Provide educational support working closely with the child
  • Implement education plans for children
  • Contribute and review behaviour change management plans
  • Improve educational participation and outcomes
  • Assist other school teachers and staff to respond to behavioural, social and learning needs

Required Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Education or Teaching
  • Experience working with young people and adolescents with challenging behaviour
  • Proven classroom teaching experience
  • Experience supporting those at risk of poor learning outcomes and children in out of home care
  • An understanding of cultural contexts and the unique needs of Aboriginal children and young people.
  • Understanding of the broad range of issues that impact on the education system

OzChild offers:

  • Permanent Part Time contract (0.8 FTE) working 9-5 with flexibility to work additional hours
  • Must be available during school term plus additional work during school breaks
